Arcam BDP100 Blu-Ray disc player

Arcam have not rushed to market with a compromised blu-ray solution, rather the company have waited to launch the BDP100 only when its performance in both audio and video terms could be judged to be of 'reference' quality. That time has now come, and the Company are justifiably proud of their high end blu-ray, DVD and CD disc spinner.

The player is built from the finest components available, and housed in a vault like case which has the usual high standard of vibration suppression and beautiful finish, which will compliment perfectly the AVR500 or AVR600 receivers.

Picture quality, whether playing DVD or Blu-ray, is simply jaw dropping. Its 1080p HD output via HDMI really needs to be seen to be believed, such is its clarity, whilst blacks are totally without grey elements - black as it should be. Movement is handled superbly by the on-board de-interlacer, no jagged edges or mosquito noise is a joy for the home cinema fan. Whilst not currently 3D, there will be an optional upgrade in early 2011 to make it fully 3D compliant if so desired. Rapid loading of Blu-ray discs is a very welcome feature.

This machine comes as standard with BD Live (Blu-Ray profile 2) specification, meaning that once it is connected to the internet, you may download additional movie content such as deleted scenes, actor profiles, trailers, directors commentary and games for example. With 1GB of storage available, the BD Live facility will definitely enhance your enjoyment of any media.

Of course, picture quality and features are only half of the story - the BDP-100 is designed with the highest quality Wolfson 8741 DAC's for superb stereo and multi-channel audio performance - you certainly won't need a separate CD player in your system!

On the control front, it is equipped with a standard RS232 port to enable Crestron or AMX control.
