Hello Phil,
Its such a refreshing change to find somebody else who prefers coding Micochip PICS instead of the all pervading arduino spoon fed types.
I started out myself using picstart plus some years ago using assembly language then moving to the MPlABX platform and taught myself enough C to make things work.
