With its smiley face the Chordette Toucan Blue is exceptional headphone amplifier with built in USB DAC and Bluetooth receiver.
What seperates this from the standard Toucan is the addition of Bluetooth which will allow you play your music wirelessly from any bluetooth enabled device (home computer, phone) & with the advance of Apt-X at stunning quality
Chord Electronics have custom designed the bluetooth receiver to extract and decrypt the normally unused digital audio information and input this directly into a high quality digital to analogue converter. Unlike the analogue audio outputs seen from other Bluetooth devices this gives a much better performance and enables CD like transfer of music from the Bluetooth device. Connection is a breeze and uses a very simple pairing procedure and with a range of up to 30 meters it can be used anywhere in the home. With the addition of A2DP and APT-X dongles to the market you can add this to a system with out built in bluetooth.
A great number of Hi Fi systems no longer come with a headphone jack output making personal listening difficult. The Chordette Toucan blue can easily add this ability to your exsisting system with stunning results & with out the pain of cables.
The Toucan Blue can be added to a Bluetooth music source like a personal computer easily and will effortlessly appear as a new audio device by the operating system. Any music that is played via the computer will be digitally decoded and then converted back to an analogue signal to give you true Hi Fi quality playback through your headphones.
The listening experience has been further enhanced by the addition of a crossfeed network filter. When selected, this will provide a spatial effect giving the feeling that the music has moved outside the head. This results in a more coherent soundstage and lifelike performance. A manually operated solid aluminium volume control makes for precise and easy volume adjustment.
Headphone Output
Two identical headphone outputs are provided via ¼ inch (6.35mm) jack sockets. You can use either
one or both at the same time.
It is advised to power up the unit before putting on headphones to avoid switch on noise and any
discomfort if volume control has been left set too high.
Volume Control
The analogue volume control can be manually adjusted to increase or decrease the volume to the
headphones for comfortable listening. Take care when adjusting not to set the level too high to avoid
damaging your hearing.
Input Selection
The input switch allows you to change between the Bluetooth (switch in) and the USB input (switch
out). Set this switch according to which input you would like to listen to. Always reduce the volume
before changing input.
Using USB digital audio
Connect your personal computer via an A to B type USB cable. The Toucan Blue will automatically
be recognised by the computer as a USB DAC. All audio from the computer will be streamed to the
Toucan so you can listen via the headphones. (In some cases you may need to change the computer
audio settings to set the playback device as USB Audio).
Using Bluetooth wireless digital audio
Referring to your Bluetooth device instructions, search for new paired devices. The Toucan Blue
will be identified as Toucan Blue then a number. Select your Toucan Blue and enter the passcode
0000 when prompted. Confirm that you wish to connect to the Toucan Blue device. The Toucan
Blue should now be locked to your Bluetooth enabled phone or computer and be able to receive high
quality digital audio. Higher quality Apt-X transmissions are automatically detected if received. If
you lose connection, for instance if the Toucan Blue is switched off, then you can reconnect by
looking at the list of paired devices on the phone/computer and selecting connect.
Crossfeed Network Selection
To provide a more coherent soundstage we have provided an additional filter that adds a crossfeed
network and delay. The result is a more spatial soundstage giving an enhanced listening experience.
Press the crossfeed switch in to activate the filter.
