The Dynavector DV XX-2 MKII has the capabilities of delivering deep and meaningful bass in conjunction with treble that is precise and clear, without sounding in anyway ‘harsh’ when compared with rival counterpart moving coil designs of a similar price bracket. This is all delivered from 25 year’s worth of cartridge design from a brand that is dedicated to vinyl, and not to just making any ‘run of the mill’ moving coil cartridge.
Using a flux damper that features the Alnico-5 magnet and similar design construction to the much praised Te Kaitora Rua, the overall magnetic resistance is lower. On top of this, a more stable output voltage is transmitted from the DV XX-2 MKII because it has a lower resistance than rare earth and ferrite alternatives.
A solid boron cantilever of 6mms features a Pathfinder Line contact stylus, whilst Pure Copper Ohno Continuous Casting Process (PCOCC) copper wire is used exclusively for the coil. With an output of 0.29mV, higher than the XX-2 MKI, and with 6 ohms impedance, the XX-2 MKII is suited to most moving coil phono stages. The body is machined from the hardest aluminium available: 7075. Only weighing 8.9 grams, it is suited to a variety of tonearms.
