Dynavector Te Kaitora Rua MC Cartridge

The Dynavector Te Kaitora Rua moving coil cartridge offers an unbelievable soundstage and bass performance. Attention to detail no matter how small isn't lost and finds itself beautifully placed in the music. The artistry in this cartridge is very much apparent and easy to see thanks to its open design.

Te Kaitora means "The Discoverer" in the language of the NZ Maori people, Rua, is "the second version".

The original T.K. cartridge was the outcome of a collaboration between Dynavector Japan and Dynavector New Zealand. The T.K. allowed Vinyl devotees to pull every last bit of music out of their collection.

The TKR takes advantage of a Boron cantilever, that offers low density, ultra-lightweight, incredibly stiff and 100% inert. The boron cantilever can more precisely trace the information contained in the record grooves than other cantilever types.

The stylus used is a PF line contact, this offers the optimum tip design for accurate tracking of high-frequency passages with minimum wear. It has a vertical contact area that is even longer than that of the elliptical stylus. The line contact stylus provides low distortion and low record wear. The coils are of very fine copper wire wound using Dynavector founder Dr Tominari's own proprietary coil-winding machine. This combination yields an output level of 0.25mV with a very light and agile coil assembly, making the Te Kaitora an excellent tracker and keeping the 'quick' response Dynavector cartridges are known for.

A guide to turntable cartridges and the best budget models

Who is Dynavector?

Dynavector is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of high-performance moving coil cartridges and has been at the top of its game for over four decades. Using their patented magnetic flux damping and softened magnetism mechanisms, Dynavector’s range of cartridges is certainly innovative. Hearing a standard moving magnet cartridge and Dynavector’s moving coil cartridges you’ll be blown away by the difference in sound.

From their entry-level, MC 10X5 cartridge to the top-of-the-range DRT XV-1t, Dynavector cartridges can help take your listening experience to the next level. Their high-output models are designed to work with MM inputs, perfect for those just starting their upgrade journey in the world of vinyl.

Founded in the mid-1970s by Dr Tominari in Tokyo, Dynavector is committed to delivering the best quality sound from vinyl. As a former physics professor at Tokyo University, Dr Tominari had a lifelong interest in music and his scientific background helped him to design, develop and produce truly innovative products. This has continued to this day and helped Dynavector become synonymous with great-sounding vinyl.
