The Te Kaitora Rua is a collaborative design effort from both the Japanese and the New Zealand Dynavector team. Te Kaitora Rua features technology from both divisions allowing a new and magnificent milestone in phono technology and sound qualities. The XV-1s and XX-2 both have played a key role by lending some of their technological advantages to creating this unusual rarity that has proved to already be a firm favourite.
Improvements over the predecessor are as follows: wire for the coil has been changed to the Dynavector PCOCC copper wire from the original silver wire for a more stable sound that maintains integrity. A titanium headpiece for maximum for strength with limited resonance and miniature stainless steel bolt coupling the front and rear yokes to the magnetic circuit assembly. To complete it there is a 6mm long boron cantilever with Path Finder line contact stylus as used with both Dynavector’s XV-1s and XX-2.
Overall, this is a product that really shows that Dynavector are dedicated to the life and use of vinyl. With over 30 years’ technology, it is easy to see why they are setting an example for others to follow.
Also, for those who did wonder, Te Kaitora means ‘The Discoverer’ in the language of the New Zealand Maori people, Rua, is ‘the Second Version’.
