The Hadcock 242 tonearm and the Hadcock 228, both unipivot designs, are among the best values in analogue audio. Although both models share the same mounting body, the tracking of the 242 is superior to that of the 228. The principal difference is the arm tube length and headshell alignment. All 242 tonearms use the same lightweight stainless steel arm tube and headshells. Spare arm tubes and headshells are available for all models. A brass arm stub mount is now fitted as standard. The model range varies according to choice of internal wiring and external interconnects: * The 242 Export is the starter tonearm in the range, using pure Oxygen Free Copper (OFC) cabling. Winner of Hi-Fi World Best Tonearm Award 2004! * The 242 Export Cryo uses DCT treated OFC cable and DCT treat OFC phono cable with TDI phono plugs. * The 242 Integra (formerly the GH 242SE) is the best-selling Hadcock tonearm. It uses Incognito (Cardas) wiring throughout * The all new GH 242 Cryo offers the very best of the cable options, extensively tested after deep cryogenic treatment, enhancing cable structure offering a better signal path. * The 242 Super Silver is only available on special order. This is the ultimate arm offered by Hadcock. It utilises Van den Hul internal silver wiring and fly leads, and Super Silver phono cable. Price shown is for the 242 Export base model. Other models can be ordered by selection below. The GH 242 is suitable for almost all turntables including SME, Thorens, Michell, Nottingham Analogue, Linn and Origin Live to name but a few. Full installation instructions are included. Hadcock tonearms are compatible with most modern cartridges. One year manufacturer's warranty. Timing seemed tighter, as though the bands were better rehearsed, and the whole concept of space and air in the music took on a new level. I could equate it to the difference between watching a widescreen display and then looking at the same image on a high-definition projections system. I found I was appreciating textures and shape in sounds that I have been listening to for years, whcih I hadn't previously noticed or had been partially masked by an overlap of other sounds." (June 2006) "The Hadcock's price is roughly comparable with the Rega 900 and the SME300 range and, in my opinion, it is both more versatile and more able than either. In truth its performance places it in a higher class altogether. All-in-all, whether you view it as a bargain high-ender or as an improbably musical medium-pricer the GH242 SE deserves a long, blissful listen." (June 2000) "All I can say is, I\'m amazed that you can get this quality of sound at that price. If I were in the market for a unipivot, this arm would be my first port of call." "The Hadcock on the other hand was an easy comparison because it simply did what the SME [model IV] didóbetter. That the thing is simple to set up, should last forever and is rather different from the rest of the herd is just the icing on the cake."
