Naim DAC Digital to analogue converter
The new Naim DAC Digital to analogue converter has been designed to extract the absolute best musical performance of your digital signal sources and files possible.
With eight S/PDIF digital inputs available on both optical toslink and coax connections, plus two USB inputs, there are a plethora of inputs with this DAC. These inputs feed the digital SPDIF data stream into an Analogue Devices Sharc digital signal processor running bespoke Naim firmware - here it acts as a data receiver and filter, handling 40 bit data streams with 16 times oversampling.
The power supply is extensively regulated to provide stable voltage supplies for all digital and analogue circuits. Not only that, but you can upgrade by adding an external Naim power supply to elevate audio performance still further.
Twin mono Burr Brown PCM1704K DAC's offer a level of performance hitherto unknown in a high end hi-fi DAC, allowing it to accept standard 16 bit 44.1kHz files (like CD) all the way up to massive high definition audio files of 32 bit resolution with 768kHz sampling frequency - make no mistake, files of this size are necessary for truly high end sound quality, and they are becoming increasingly available over time.
Discrete component output amplifiers with low distortion and noise and high overload margin condition the analogue music signal to prepare it for passing onto a Naim amplifier.
Zinc aluminium non-resonant casework reduces vibration and with the black powder coated finish, gives a beautifully understated look.
The Naim DAC works beautifully with both the CDX2 and CD5 XS CD players, boith of which now feature rear panel digital coaxial output sockets. Equally, the Naim DAC brings out superb musical performances from the HDX network streamer, PC, Mac or Sonos Connect.
