Naim Hi-line interconnect
Naim engineers set out to improved every possible aspect of their standard range of interconnects when they embarked upon the Hi-line project, focusing not just on improving the sound quality of the cable itself, but also the plugs that terminate the cable - the result of many hours of research and listening tests, the Hi-line is able to do full justice to the very best Naim Audio hi-fi products.
A number of terminations can be selected when ordering the Hi-Line as follows:-
- 5 pin DIN to 5 pin DIN
- 4 pin DIN to 5 pin DIN
- 5 pin DIN to 2 RCA
- 2 RCA to 5 pin DIN
- 2 RCA to 2 RCA.
A standard length of 1.3m is available for Hi-Line interconnects. The cable design itself is unique to Naim, being manufactured from twisted pairs of 80 litz conductors surrounded by PTFE, Kapton and PTFE tape all then covered by a semi conductive shield to reduce static charges. The whole is then wrapped by two spiral wound copper shields and lapped PTFE tape. Both of these assemblies are then wrapped alongside each other in layers of PTFE tape and lastly a butyl rubber protective sheath. The resultant stereo interconnect exhibits several unique benefits - firstly the signal and RF grounds are held in a static position relative to each other negating any difference in field between them, giving extremely low noise performance. Secondly, the crosstalk between stereo channels is significantly reduced, resulting in a wider, more natural stereo image.
The new low metal content plug design is called Hi-Line Air plug, and is designed not to absorb or transmit any unwanted vibration from the environment to either piece of audio equipment connected at either end - it achieves this by clamping the cable inside the Air plug with a lossy mechanism that removes mechanical disturbance. Electromagnetic eddy currents are reduced significantly thanks to the hybrid construction material with low alloy content, and the cable impedance is preserved at all times by the specially designed cable clamp.
Hi-Line should elevate your Naim system to the next level in terms of speed, drive and solidity of stereo image, with the system gelling into a more cohesive whole in comparison to standard Naim interconnects.
