Naim NAC 252 Preamplifier

The NAC 252 is a direct descendant of the highly regarded NAC 52 preamplifier, a model that even to this day is considered to be one of the finest preamplifiers ever built. Capable of an outstanding level of clarity, the power supply componentry within the 252 is housed in a separate enclosure; the SuperCap power supply unit. This guarantees the best possible isolation from electromagnetic interference and provides each of the unit's ten audio circuits with an independent and fully regulated supply voltage. 

In addition to this, individual power supplies also enhance the digital control and switching circuitry and further isolate the audio circuitry from the noise that may otherwise disturb the quality of the signal. It is this level of attention to detail that Naim has become famous for and that the 252 sets its standard by. 

Who is Naim?

Naim Audio has a special place in British audio, thanks to its founder and inspirational leader Julian Vereker, a hugely talented mechanical and electronic engineer with a passion for, amongst many things, music. Founded in 1973, Naim has always had a firm philosophy of music first, measurements second - each Naim product is extensively auditioned as part of the product development process to make sure that it delivers clear, emotional music-making ability. Naim products are designed to bring the closest facsimile of a live music event into your home listening environment, to give you maximum pleasure from your music collection.

Many of the Naim products are evolutions of previous designs, sometimes incorporating quite small changes to the mechanical or electronic design. However, these incremental changes make a large overall improvement in the music performance of each product.

Unlike other audio brands, built-in obsolescence is not part of the plan - Naim products can often be upgraded in performance by the addition of several different levels of the external power supply. In this way, the owner of a Naim component can upgrade his system without having to continually sell existing equipment. Unusually, Naim recommends the use of DIN-compatible interconnecting cables, as the earthing integrity is superior to the industry standard phono connector. Having said that, Naim products often come equipped with both types of connectors, to allow easy mixing and matching to third-party equipment.
