Naim's UnitiServe-SSD is a condensed, slot-loading, and CD ripping hard disk music player and server. The technology for this product was built from Naim's multi award winning HDX. It takes the most significant elements of the HDX (such as the solid state drive, ethernet connection, UPnPTM server, Naim bit-perfect ripping, StreamNet Technology and digital outputs)

The UnitiServe-SSD does not contain internal hard-disk memory, and is made to be used with network systems, where audio data is stores on NAS drives. An audio system is able to grow around the UnitiServe-SSD. It can replay ripped content from CDs into a digital input-equipped amplifier (such as the Supernait) or a DAC with all the alluring Naim musical intuition, sonic performance and detail expected from a Naim product. The UnitiServe-SSD can also act as a UPnPTM server to enable audio streaming to any UPnPTM playback device within a home network (such as NaimUniti or UnitiQute). This enables its user to create a simple and excquisitely sounding multi-room system. And for people who want to put sound quality at the middle of whole-home control, the UnitiServe-SSD's StreamNet functionality means the unit can also act as the heart of a sophisticated IP-based NaimNet multi-room system. The UnitiServe-SSD can be controlled by iPhone and iPod touche devices when used in conjuction with the dedicated Naim n-Serve app, a touch screen or a computer anywhere within the home network, via a web browser or the Naim Desktop Client application

The UnitiServe-SSD isn't just limited to CD format audio, or its internal storage. The unit can also play audio from a USB memory drive and will scan the network for music stored on NAS drives or network shares in WAV, AIFF, FLAC, ALAC, OGG Vorbis, AAC, WMA and MP3 formats at up to 24bit/192kHz resolution.
