Details

Nordost is a premium quality interconnect and cable manufacturer, designing and engineering outstanding products to enhance the sound integrity of high quality hifi and home cinema systems. Nordost are known to be the manufacturer who set the standard for high-end flat cables, a superior quality achieved through the use of uniquely developed conductor solutions that originated within the aerospace industry.

The Nordost design philosophy is to offer a pure and untainted signal transfer between hifi components, whether that be from CD player to amplifier or amplifier to loudspeaker. Nordost cables utilise a variety of groundbreaking processes and developed proprietary technologies to form the superior product that has become so critically acclaimed and loved today.

These innovative design principles include their innovative Dual/Micro-Mono Filament, TSC (Total Signal Control) technology and newly developed HOLO:PLUG connectors. Nordost's impressive range of products began as one simple, yet cutting edge cable and has since expanded into a vast series of all-encompassing high fidelity solutions, now not limited only to cables but also anti-resonant/energy dissipating hifi upgrades and accessories.

This fundamental philosophy of cable design is built upon through each range found within Nordost's catalogue. The Norse 2 series is the secondary tier of quality cabling designed, engineered and put together by Nordost to offer an outstanding level of depth, precision and dynamic musicality at every component. As with Leif cables, the Norse 2 range utilises a mechanically tuned construction of silver-plated, oxygen free solid core conductors in combination with extruded FEP insulation.

The Norse series uses a proprietary method named 'Mono Filament' technology which forms a virtual air dielectric by winding an FEP filament in a spiral precisely around each individual conductor before the outer FEP sleep is extruded around it. This results in a truly minimal contact with the conductor, to lessen dielectric absorption and enhance the mechanical damping and precision of the cable's geometry. Norse cables are also the first in the catalogue to use asymmetrical grounding which lowers the noise floor.

Frey 2 builds upon the quality and standard of the Heimdall 2 range as the secondary tier of cables and interconnects in Nordost's prestigious Norse 2 family. Featuring the same core componentry as the Leif ranges, the Frey 2 sees the introduction of superior cable technologies first seen in the company's higher end Valhalla and Odin product ranges including the use of mechanically tuned lengths and Dual Mono-Filament tech. The Frey 2 range also uses proprietary MoonGlo connectors to heighten the performance of the cable and enhance the signal transfer of your two components without compromise.

The FREY 2 Interconnect uses a perfect combination of six 26 AWG solid OFC conductors with an extruded silver surface. The conductors are wrapped in a FEP thread or Mono-Filament wound in a helix over the conductors. An FEP tube is extruded over this which reduces insulation contact to the conductors by more than 80% with extreme mechanical stability. The cable are terminated with WBT NEXTGEN gold plated copper connectors which offer the perfect low mass connection between the cables and the equipment. This combination means that FREY interconnects have a dramatic and stunning effect on the musical performance.
