The Essential II is designed to be the most versatile turntable available in the entry-level section of the market. A newly developed integrated phono stage means that listeners of able to decide between an analogue line level output, or connect to their hifi system via 24-bit/96kHz digital Optical. The optical output makes use of a high quality integrated ADC (Analogue to Digital Converter), while the built in phono stage is based around ProJect's iconic Phono Box model. 

One benefit of connecting the turntable via optical is that you're able to run much longer cables without the same kind of signal loss you would experience when using long analogue RCA leads. This is ideal for those who wish to place their turntable away from their amplifier without compromising on sound. 

The Essential 2 makes use of a new motor control, to provide a quieter running sound in an effort to minimise unwanted vibrations. The Essential 2 Digital is a manual turntable, and includes the same fitted cartridge one woulf find on the more up-market Project model, the RPM 1.3 Genie. An 8.6" aluminium tonearm combined with a sturdy and robust plinth allows for an even greater sound quality, making this turntable one of the most audio capable models in its price-range
