QED Audio products first started designing and manufacturing high quality speaker cables and interconnects in 1973 - the first two speaker cables were QED 79 strand and QED 42 strand, both of which astonished enthusiasts at the time with the sybstantial upgrade in sound quality they offered.

Research and development into alternate materials such as silver plated copper and dielectrics ensured QED cables stayed ahead of their competitors.

QED Ruby Anniversary speaker cable makes 40 years of affordable audiophile speaker cable design, and the new Ruby has been designed to appeal to cost conscious buyers who still want great sound quality. based on technology trickled down from the high end Genesis and X Tube speaker cables, Ruby Anniversary is a miniature version of these cable technologies.

The cable adopts design elements of both the brand's Genesis and X-Tube cables and combines them in a new miniature format, with the effect of reducing overall impedance to "below that which would be expected of a traditional speaker cable of the same cross-sectional area." The individual parallel conductor geometry, combined with its hollow central core, also creates low inductance, which ensures the majority of the cable's cross-sectional area is used throughout the audio spectrum.

The cable is a conventional 'figure 8' configuration and attractively finished, with each of the ten (99.999 per cent pure copper) multiple cores visible through a flexible 5.0mm diameter, clear polyethylene outer sheath. For ease of assembly and to ensure correct speaker phasing, the 'positive' cable is clearly marked and the whole is easily stripped and crimped into the recommended QED 'Airloc' loudspeaker plugs.
