Thorens TD-2035 Turntable
Thorens is a high-quality manufacturer of entry-level to premium end turntables, based in Switzerland. Thorens as a company is well established, with a history dating back as far 1883 with audiophile-grade turntables being added to their list of well-crafted products in the 1950s and the 1960s, models from which are still highly sought after and regarded as some of the best turntables of their time.
Combining visual beauty with strong engineering sense, the Thorens TD-2035 is a new design from one of the longest established hi-fi turntable manufacturers in the world, originating from Switzerland.
The striking, sandwiched three-piece acrylic plinth is 33mm thick, giving this turntable an extremely solid, inert and non-resonant base which in turn allows the TO92 tonearm and platter to extract the maximum amount of information from the vinyl being played.
A heavy 6kg aluminium platter provides a hefty flywheel effect, which in tandem with sophisticated electronic speed control ensures very low wow and flutter, so that held notes are pitch-perfect, and overall timing and rhythmic ability is equally impressive.
The motor unit is external to the plinth, and therefore no mechanical vibration influence the sound quality of this deck. Vibration eliminating feet further isolate the turntable from foot-falls and airborne vibration for a clean, airy and engrossing musical performance. A moving coil cartridge would be the perfect partner for this turntable.
