The superb Unico CDE was some three years in research and development and the result is a highly individual product that delivers the best from CD using a number of unique devices. The engineers at Unison Research selected to use a CD-Rom as the transport for its disc reading ability and robustness. It uses a fully balanced pure triode valve amplification stage (2xECC 82 valves) and a high quality 24-bit/192kHz Crystal digital to analogue converter. The use of a CD-Rom mechanism required a sophisticated control microprocessor ñ the Unico CD uses a 64kb flash memory which allows personalised display on the backlit LCD display window. With a truly sophisticated design and valve-induced sound quality, along with an affordable price tag, this promises to be one of the industry's classic CD players. For a small extra cost a range of three filters and a digital input/output card can be fitted to the Unico CD for extra flexibility and improved performance. The unit comes with a very high quality infra red remote control fashioned from the company's trademark solid wood.
