Yamaha YAS-203 Virtual Surround Sound System

Yamaha's YAS-203 isn't your standard industry soundbar, but raises soundbar standards for the entire product market. This unit delivers an astonishingly immersive surround-sound experience within a compact and affordable profile. Yamaha have always been regarded as one of the most respected and expertise names in soundbar technology, and the YAS-203 exists to prove that. Building upon an advanced soundbar/subwoofer combo, Yamaha's Air Surround Xtreme technology sets this model apart. 

Air Surround Xtreme is Yamaha's exclusive and self-developed virtual surround sound technology, offering a vibrant and intense level of sound quality, complete with an established and exemplary sense of surround-imaging. This technology allows the viewer to experience an enveloping adventure alongside their favourite film characters and environments. 

Within its discrete cabinet is a digital amplifier, powering two 5.5cm (2-1/8 inch) cone drivers, backed by large magnets to guarantee an optimal level of sound quality and transparency. Yamaha have also implemented their signature 'Bass Extension Processing' technology, meaning that the YAS-203 is able to reproduce a superlative level of bass, despite its slim profile.

The supplied subwoofer connects to the main unit wirelessly and has been built to offer a controlled yet fluid bass response. Comprising of a large 16cm (6.5 inches) driver cone, the subwoofer is able to move vast amounts of air at one time, while the large magnet and front-firing configuration means that this vast air push is precise and meticulous; resulting in an exceptional sound. 

Yamaha's 'Clear Voice' technology has also been implemented within the soundbar unit to help raise the volume of speech and dialogue, something that is often drowned out during more intense movie moments. 

The YAS-203 offers music streaming with Bluetooth (including support for high quality, lossless aptX decoding) so this soundbar can not only be used as a surround-sound home cinema option, but also as a high fidelity music system. All of these functions can be controlled from your tablet or smartphone, using Yamaha's dedicated (and free) application, available for both iOS and Android devices.
