The Arcam SA20 Integrated Amplifier
A replacement for Arcam's A29 has revealed, building on the performance of the A29, the SA20 Integrated Amplifier uses Arcam's Class G technology. The SA20 Amplifier is rated at 80wpc into 8 ohms (both channels are driven). This amp delivers just under 20wpc in pure Class A; what this benefit's is having a huge amount of power that will be held in reserves and what this also allows is providing more power to those very hefty loudspeakers.
The Arcam SA20 has x5 analogue inputs (x1 line/MM switchable) but the x3 digital inputs (x2 SPDIF and x1 optical) are supplied by the ESS Sabre 9038 reference DAC (as employed in the irDAC2). The SA10 comes with a brand new learning back-lift infra-red handset which can now be controlled over your personal IP address, the cleverly developed iOS app made by Arcam and finally the RS232 connection port which will be located on the back of the amp.
Who is Arcam?
Arcam is a well-established UK manufacturer of quality hifi components, based just outside of the world-famous University of Cambridge. The company began in 1976, founded by two music enthusiasts with a passion for electronics. The company was initially named Amplification & Recording Cambridge, before shorting to A&R Cambridge, and eventually to the snappier and more impacting name that we know today; 'ARCAM'.
