AudioQuest is one of the most well-regarded cable manufacturers in the world, with each cable seeing a level of meticulous detail in both its aesthetic construction, as well as intuitive engineering within to provide an impressive performance. Regardless of whether the cable in question be an analogue or digital interconnect, speaker cable, subwoofer cable or anything with Audioquest's badge on it - only the finest quality materials and construction expertise is used to form an exceptional, industry-leading product.

The Chicago features a number of technological advances that allow it to sit as one of the best quality audio analogue interconnects in its price point and a perfect example of AudioQuest's design philosophy of refusing to compromise.

SOLID LONG-GRAIN COPPER (LGC) CONDUCTORS:

Using solid conductors ensures that potential distortion caused by conductor strands is completely eliminated. This means that the cable is able to offer a much smoother and more detailed sound response than lesser cables that use OFHC copper. OFHC stands for 'Oxygen Free High Conductivity', but this acronym is slightly misleading as the term is a general metal specification that does not take distortion into consideration as being 'loss'. Long-Grain Copper however has fewer oxides within the conducting material, reduced grain boundaries and as a result; a superior performance in audio.

NITROGEN-INJECTED HARD-CELL FOAM INSULATION:

AudioQuest use a specialised Nitrogen-Injected Hard-Cell foam insulation for this cable. It's similar in nature to Foamed-PE, but it is nitrogen-injected to form air pockets. 'Hard' foam is used because the rigidity and stiffness means that the cable's conductors are able to maintain a partnership with each other for the full length of the interconnect. This results in a consistent impedance and an outstanding sound quality.

METAL-LAYER NOISE-DISSIPATION SYSTEM (NDS):

This cable also benefits from the innovative Metal-Layer Noise-Dissipation System, often shortened easily to NDS. Poor quality cables that use minimal shielding techniques can often act as aerials for parasitic RF frequency interference, passing these signals through your system and effecting the sound of your music. AudioQuest believe that 100% shield coverage is simple. Using their Noise-Dissipation System, RF interference is captured and prevented from modifying the electronic component's ground reference. NDS simply prevents a significantly large amount of potential RFI from ever reaching the equipment's ground plane, whether that piece of equipment be hifi-based, home cinema or otherwise.

DOUBLE-BALANCED GEOMETRY:

Double-Balanced Geometry means that the interconnect utilises two fit-for-purpose audio conductors separate from cable's shield. This prevents the shield from becoming an inferior audio path, as well as optimising the sound quality further by only grounding the shield at the end - thus drastically reducing system ground-plane interference.

COLD-WELDED GOLD-PLATED RCA PLUGS:

AudioQuest refuse to compromise on quality and always ensure that only the finest materials and technological construction methods are achieved at every price-point. Because of this meticulous attention to detail, even the plug-design has been carefully thought out to guarantee the best possible signal transfer. This cold-welded design doesn't use solder, which is regarded as a common source of distortion while the ground shells are pressed instead of machines, meaning that the metal used is chosen not because of how easy is to machine - but simply because it's low-distortion in nature.
