Please note: this is the latest model of the Chord Hugo (with the newer chassis). This particular model has been used in showcase environments therefore may have slight physical blemishes on the metal work of the finish. The mechanical integrity and sonic performance of the unit is in no way compromised and offers the same outstanding listening experience as an unsealed unit. Each unit is fully examined and assessed by Chord engineers before being dispatched to retailers such as ourselves for resale.

In celebration of Chord Electronic's ground-breaking DAC 64 turning 20 years old; Chord have launched the equally as impressive and state-of-the-art, reference sounding DAC/Headphone amp - the Hugo.

The Hugo is based on the same advanced FPGA DAC technology that has allowed Chord Electronics to take an authoritative stance in digital audio, this time in the form of the first reference level, portable DAC. The name given to the Hugo is a play-on-word to express its highly convenient portability ("take it wherever 'hugo'"), and the device offers exceptional studio-master-tape sound quality, advanced connectivity and full playback capability - and fits conveniently in your palm or pocket. Hugo has been described as the most advanced headphone amp/DAC, offering five digital inputs - including A2DP aptX Bluetooth, as well as advanced 384kHz PCM and DSD 129 playback for optimum resolution sound.

You can use the Hugo in both static systems, and on-the-go situations. Utilising the ability to decode sample rates ranging from 44.1kHz to 384kHz (PCM), the Hugo is an audiophile's dream. Two advanced USB inputs are also present, one driver-less input for use with legacy USB devices, while the other is an asynchronous high-def USB port.

The Hugo features an integrated battery-charging circuit, with a full-charge life of about two-hours, while its casework and outer housing is built to last for many years. The Hugo features the uniform port-hole found with other Chord Electronics reference products. This gives an insight to the device's complex and intriguing circuitry, while an LED lights the port-hole up depending on the resolution of the file being played through.

Hugo is based upon Rob Watts’ and Chord Electronics’ famous bespoke DAC technologies and is the latest edition to Chord Electronics’ beautiful high-performance product range.

The Hugo features two 3.5mm headphone connections, and a 1/4 jack connection for listening on the go and at home.
