Dynavector Karat 17DX MC Cartridge

  • Extremely accurate groove tracking ability
  • Incredibly flat and even frequency response
  • Solid brass body construction
  • Samarium-cobalt magnets for lower magnetic resistance
  • 1.7mm long solid diamond cantilever
  • Micro-ridge stylus

Drawing on Dynavector's 'dispersion theory' that produced the original world's first KARAT series Dynavector is indeed proud to announce the entirely new 17DX KARAT Diamond phono cartridge. As in the past KARAT series, the frequency response of the new KARAT 17DX at 20 to 20,000 Hz is ruler flat providing an extremely accurate groove tracking ability. However, several new features will ensure that the new 17DX will shortly gain the same legendary status and soon surpass its predecessors.

The rationale for the new KARAT 17DX was to significantly improve upon the now legendary original KARAT series. After exhaustive listening and technical research, the decision was made to incorporate a body machined from solid brass, Samarium-cobalt magnets for lower magnetic resistance, unmatched coil winding techniques, and the incredible 1.7mm long cantilever with Micro Ridge stylus all combined in a brand-new KARAT 17DX that will delight the listener, providing clear and articulate reproduction of analogue recordings without a hint of harshness in the high-frequency range.

The Micro Line stylus on the 17DX has a unique shape that is highly polished. This design has a sharper edge and a microscopic curvature that plays the record groove walls, which allows better high-frequency reproduction, lower distortion, depth, and imaging.

The 17DX is often on demo in our Hereford store, either on a Rega P8, P10 or Linn LP12. If you would like to listen to what this stellar cartridge can offer to your system, please let us know.

Who is Dynavector?

Dynavector is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of high-performance moving coil cartridges and has been at the top of its game for over four decades. Using their patented magnetic flux damping and softened magnetism mechanisms, Dynavector’s range of cartridges is certainly innovative. Hearing a standard moving magnet cartridge and Dynavector’s moving coil cartridges you’ll be blown away by the difference in sound.

From their entry-level, MC 10X5 cartridge to the top-of-the-range DRT XV-1t, Dynavector cartridges can help take your listening experience to the next level. Their high-output models are designed to work with MM inputs, perfect for those just starting their upgrade journey in the world of vinyl.

Founded in the mid-1970s by Dr Tominari in Tokyo, Dynavector is committed to delivering the best quality sound from vinyl. As a former physics professor at Tokyo University, Dr Tominari had a lifelong interest in music and his scientific background helped him to design, develop and produce truly innovative products. This has continued to this day and helped Dynavector become synonymous with great-sounding vinyl.
