The Sennheiser HD800 are a very high quality, stereo pair of headphones which deliver very lifelike stereo sound, making them one of the best performing headphones on the UK market today at their price. The Sennheiser audio engineers have taken a lot of time researching and designing this product to make it the finest sounding headphone for music lovers.

The most important component is the ring radiator - a normal dynamic headphone has a coil driving a cone, a large part of which is unsupported and can therefore flex, creating degradation in the sound quality. In this design, the unsupported middle of the cone has been removed, however, to keep the radiating area sufficient, the diameter is increased. Because the ring driver is much better supported than a conventional driver, it does not suffer from the distortion and colouration of the sound of a normal headphone - A patent covers the ring driver technology such is its importance to the design of the HD800. The second important feature is the baffle - most conventional headphones have a flat baffle, this headphone has a patented curved baffle to prevent any resonances occurring in the capsule - this makes the capsule very fast, it is driven by a large 40mm voice coil which gives a very accurate, low distortion headphone.

To get an 'out of head ' sound image experience, the capsules have been positioned on an angle, so that the sound entering your ears is the same angle as if it were coming from loudspeakers, so you get a much more out of the head experience with a very wide soundstage. The third patented feature is in the headband itself, which is of sandwich construction to prevent sounds from one capsule polluting the sound of the other capsule. Your music will be rendered so clearly by this Sennheiser design, you will be astonished, they allow you to hear the musical performance as if you were actually at the live performance or recording.

You will want to continue listening hour after all due to the natural, neutral sound quality. Once you have heard these headphones, you will feel that you can't live without them, they are that good.

The Hugo 2 allows for sound filtration too, via a four-function switch that effectively allows you to shape the frequency being played. The Hugo 2's colour-coded buttons represent information regarding the device's status including control power, input, filtering and the unit's crossfeed options.
