Marantz HD-DAC1

The HD-DAC1 is an authoritatively powerful machine and wouldn't break a sweat driving audiophile high-impedance headphones of up to 600 ohms, with complete MODE ease. It's phenomenal quality and level of performance is due to the intricate and well-designed componentry found within the unit. This component includes the three-level gain control, Marantz-specific HDAM modules, a high-current, audiophile standard DAC chip (CD4398) and premium quality fixed and variable RCA output connections.

Not only designed for headphones, however, but the HD-DAC1 can also be connected to your existing hifi system as a DAC or preamplifier. Connectivity is prolific and vast, as the HD-DAC1 features a number of optical and coaxial digital inputs, as well as a USB-B port to allow you to stream music directly from your PC or MAC. Apple devices are supported via the USB port found on the front of the unit, which has been optimised for these gadgets.

The USB-B connection works in asynchronous mode to support not only 192 kHz / 24bits high-resolution audio, but also to playback DSD 2.8mHz and 5.6mHz for the best possible performance with the most direct way to enjoy your music files exactly how they were intended to be. To further enhance the quality of computer audio, an extended isolation technique has been used around the USB-B input to eliminate any potential high-frequency noise that may otherwise be generated by the computer being connected to the HD-DAC1

To top it off, jitter-removal technology and a Dual Clock system aids in forming an even more precise level of digital accuracy.

Who is Marantz?

Marantz is one of the world's most famous hifi brands and was started in 1948 by New Yorker, Saul Marantz, an amateur musician and audio enthusiast who was dissatisfied with the amplifier products available at that time. He decided to build phono pre-amps which could handle all manner of recording equalisations popular in the day, and his friends persuaded him to build them one too. This quickly took all of Saul's time, as he was overwhelmed with orders - the Marantz company we know today was born.
