In an effort to keep our show-room displays up-to-date and as fresh as possible, we are currently rotating some of our ex display units. One such unit is our well-looked after Naim Supernait 2. Our display model is in mint-condition and includes the original accessories, packaging, manuals and manufacturer's warranty. This unit is pristine and is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to bring the high standard of Naim Audio into their listening room at an exceptional price.

Naim Audio has a special place in British audio, thanks to it's founder and inspirational leader Julian Vereker, a hugely talented mechanical and electronic engineer with a passion for, amongst many things, music. Founded in 1973, Naim has always had a firm philosophy of music first, measurements second - each Naim product is extensively auditioned as part of the product development process to make sure that it delivers clear, emotional music making ability. Naim products are designed to bring the closest facsimile of a live music event into your home listening environment, to give you maximum pleasure from your music collection.

All good things have to change eventually, and the Supernait 2 has recently changed for the better without a doubt! Now that the SuperUniti streaming unit has digital inputs, Naim have decided to strip away the digital inputs from the Supernait 2, leaving their engineers sufficient budget to concentrate upon improving the basic analogue amplification aspects, and in our view, these changes are entirely welcome.

With a gutsy 70 watts into eight ohms on tap, the Supernait 2 is both dynamic and powerful whilst also having a subtle and delicate touch when needed. Almost all loudspeakers on the market will be driven to realistic levels comfortably by the Super Nait 2 largely thanks to its ability to drive low impedance loads - for example, it can deliver 100W into four ohms continuously.

The aluminium heat sink on the previous model has now been replaced with a ceramic dissipator, which has more surface area thanks to its porous surface structure, giving increased thermal efficiency - this helps the output transistors remain cool, helping both reliability and reducing thermal distortion. The capacitance between the semiconductors and the heatsink is also eliminated by the change from aluminium to ceramic, which improves the high frequency linearity of Super Nait 2.

All analogue inputs are electronically switched via reed relays for shorter signal paths on the PCB - the constant drive current to the relay coils allows virtually zero noise or any other degradation to the precious analogue signal inputs, which gives a purity to the sound quality that is unmistakable. The quality of the custom manufactured film capacitors has also benefited the detail retrieval of the Super Nait 2.

A class A headphone amplifier has been thoughtfully fitted, so those enthusiasts who enjoy private listening can also enjoy the traditional advantages of Naim sound quality - a 1/4 inch headphone jack is located on the front panel, together with Alps motorised volume and balance controls.

Physically this amplifier is housed in the full height Naim alloy casework and chassis, giving plenty of room for a very high capacity toroidal transformer, reservoir capacitors and heat sinking. On the rear panel, you will find six analogue inputs where both 5 pin DIN and RCA phono interconnects can be used to connect your source components, dependent upon your preference. Both preamp outputs and power amp inputs are also available on 5 pin DIN sockets, allowing you to either add an external AV processor or even a stereo power amp. Alternatively, you could also drive a pair of active subwoofers from the preamp output socket, ideal if you have mini monitor speakers but need more depth to the sound.

A single pair of speaker terminals are provided per channel, which accepts 4mm banana plugs - we can terminate your speaker cables for you if necessary. We recommend you use either Naim's own NAC A5 speaker cable, or Chord Odyssey 2. A mini USB socket completes the back panel line up, useful when a new firmware revision becomes available.
