Quad is a highly renowned manufacturer of quality hifi electronics and loudspeakers, having developed award-winning audiophile-standard products standard for over 80 years, their highly acclaimed reputation is well-earned. The company originally built speakers for public address, moving onto domestic hifi following the end of the war. The first commercially available products were the Quad 22 Pre-amp and Quad II Monoblock Power Amplifiers, both of which were on the market for ten years to great success. 

Quad now develop a wide range of hifi products at varying price points, such as the S Series, Z Series, Electrostatic Series of loudspeakers and accompanying amplifier ranges the Vena and QII Series. Quad also build a range of Active Loudspeakers.  The Vena features a vast range of inputs and outputs, including wireless Bluetooth connectivity. The DAC found within the Vena borrows the same premium-performance 24-bit/192kHz chipset found within Quad's high-end and highly regarded Platinum CD Players. Bluetooth functionality within the unit also supports aptX to ensure a superior sound-quality when using Bluetooth.

The Class AB power amplification aspect of the Vena is constructed of high-quality components, and its construction utilises Quad's highly renowned experience in manufacturing high-end audio equipment. The power amplification delivers 45w per channel into 8ohms. The Vena is available in Lancaster Grey finish now, with other high gloss finishes appearing at the end of 2014 at a £100 premium. The Vena is an excellently neat and easy solution for exceptional sound quality from a multitude of the source, whether it be smartphones, tablets, PCs, Macs or traditional hi-fi separates.

The S-1 is one of two stand-mount models in the S series, and features a high-quality 100mm bass/midrange driver built from Kevlar. The Kevlar material allows for an extremely rigid cone, that is both firm yet light, allowing it to push vast amounts of an hour while also responding quickly. This cone works hand-in-hand with the S-1's Quad-specific ribbon tweeter design. Quad has been using ribbon tweeters in their loudspeaker models for a long time, the first one being the 'Corner Ribbon' which was first used in 1949. the S-1's tweeter is considerably more advanced than this though and uses a sandwich construction design. This makes it far more robust and easily matched with high powered amplifiers.
