Nearly every year Ruark surprises us with a special edition R1, this year we have been blessed with the Beach Hut Blue Summer Edition; this is one of our favourite finishes to date. The R1 itself is still the same internals and gives off the same performance, but with a rather refreshing finish to add. 

The new, improved Ruark R1 MK4 - The next lifecycle for the R1. Ruark set the bar high when they released the R5 and the rather new R3, so we expect nothing shy of impressive. A few features are that the new cabinet for the R1 has been cleverly acoustically tuned, a linear amplifier paired with Ruark's NS+ driver to produce an eminently listenable sound at any level of volume.

A brand new OLED display (following the same footsteps of the R3) has been implemented, as before, this will show you all the meta-information when playing any song or on any station, it also vividly shows time, alarm and programme information and auto-adjusts to suit ambient light levels making it a perfect bedside companion.

Other highlights include a quality Bluetooth receiver, USB-C charge and playback port, switchable auxiliary input and headphone output. Finally, Ruark's trademark RotoDial control system makes R1 easy to use and for those seeking distant operation, there is a compact remote control available as an optional extra.

Undoubtedly the best way to appreciate R1 Mk4 is to see and hear it. With its contemporary new look, the design-conscious will love it and for those avid radio listeners, it brings a new level of engagement. set.

Who is Ruark?

Ruark Audio is a family-owned British company, founded in 1986 that specialises in compact lifestyle radio systems. The company found massive success with the launch of their first unit, the R1, which has since evolved into its third rendition. Shortly after the R1 was launched, a multitude of larger and more prolific products began to appear on Ruark's catalogue and soon after, the same products would be seen in kitchens, bedrooms, offices and living rooms all over the world. Ruark is well known in the world of HiFi speakers from the '80s and '90s.
