Sonos Playbase
The Playbar was the first product developed by Sonos designed specifically to offer an immersive and engaging home theatre experience while retaining good musicality and performance for all audio listening applications. Sonos appreciate that the Playbar's visual design lends itself mainly to wall-mounted televisions but have also discovered that a further improvement in sound quality can be achieved using a different configuration.
Bring in the Playbase. Sonos' latest innovation, designed to sit directly and discretely beneath your television to offer multi-channel, room-filling sound. It's the thinnest Play speaker available, standing at just 5.8cm tall, 72cm in width and 38cm deep. 10 specially designed driver units, all of which are individually amplified, sit within the cabinet of the soundbase, including three tweeters, six midrange drivers and a large woofer for lower, impacting bass sounds.
The Playbase is designed for use with television screens up to 60 inches in size and will withstand a load weight of up to 35kg, which is around double the weight of most 4K compatible 50+" televisions in 2017. The PlayBase connects to your television using a digital audio optical connection, as with the Playbar. As with the Playbar, the Playbase is fully compatible with the Sonos Sub and a pair of additional Play speakers to form a wireless 5.1 channel surround sound system. Finetuning Tuneplay is also supported, so the Playbase is able to manipulate it's sound output, taking environmental factors into consideration (only possible via iOS Sono app).
