Burson Audio Timekeeper Power Amp
In the past, Burson Audio have wanted to construict a compact and refined power amp. During their journey to creating one of their own, they realised small statured power amplifiers were often Class-D or a variation of Class-D (like Class-T or Z). These designs are inconsistent with Burson Audio's ideals in two ways. The first is their point blank refusal to use IC based audio building blocks. The second is that Class-D and T chips were designed and manufactured for the car audio industry, and later on for the mobile phone industry where power efficiency, size, and budget are the main designing push, which means audio performance is a secondary priority within its construction.
Therefore, instead of conforming with these design tactics, Burson have set themselves a seemingly impossible challenge. To create a Class-D sized power amplifier with loyal Burson ideals. That means creating a fully IC free class-AB power amp, with a custom built transformer and a linear power supply. Through the timekeeper, Burson are challening the established beliefs of size vs performance.
