Jamie has been with HiFi Gear for over 11 years and has been in HiFi and home cinema sales for over 20. “My love of Cinema & music was my gateway into sales, buying my 1st 5.1 home cinema system at 20 years old”
My music tastes were very much influenced by my parents who always had music playing at home and on every car journey. The Doors, The Who, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple were very much my dad’s music, David Bowie, Rod Stewart, Stevie Wonder, Prince & anything Motown was my mum’s music of choice. Being a teenager in the 90s my music taste is very much of this time, loving a lot of Grunge music from the like of Soundgarden & Pearl Jam as well as the Brit Pop movement with Oasis, Blur & Supergrass. I couldn’t possibly list all my favorite music artist but in the shop, you will often hear many of the above as well as bands like Muse, Radiohead (my 1st live gig), The Black Keys, Incubus, Foo Fighters, Jamiroquai, Queens of the Stone Age and Stone Sour. I’m also a big fan of film soundtracks.

My current setup is 7.1.2 home cinema-based system in which I’m using Bowers & Wilkins Speakers, Denon home cinema amplifier & a 65” LG OLED screen with a variety of sources. It’s great for our child-friendly family film nights and for the big budget sci-fi films I love. Although I very much want a turntable-based system, I don’t have the space at this time, but once I do, I will be investing in a Rega Planar 6 & and either a Cyrus Classic or Rega Elicit amp.

Phil’s home music system consists of both old and new technology, namely vinyl replay via Rega Planar 8 turntable with Exact cartridge, with music streaming via Spotify and Sonos Port.
A Rega IO integrated amp drives a pair of Quad Z1 speakers on stands.
Music tastes are wide, as long as the music is performed by really good musicians, and well recorded, I can enjoy virtually any genre of music.

Charlie is HiFi Gear’s resident installation specialist, from multi-room, whole-home sound systems to fine tuned 2-channel turntable systems. He is also an avid vinyl lover and owner of multiple turntables – if he isn’t out of the shop installing a system, you’ll probably find Charlie fettling with a Linn LP12 or fine tuning a Rega Planar 3.
Charlie currently has 2 HiFi systems, showing the best of both modern and ‘vintage’ HiFi. With a modern, precise & accurate Rega & PMC system alongside a ‘vintage’ rich & warm Linn, Naim & Wharfedale system.
Charlie's System
Charlie’s modern system consists of a Rega Planar 6 turntable, Exact MM Cartridge & Fono MM phono stage connected to the mighty Rega Aethos amplifier. This powers a pair of the beautiful PMC Twenty5 21i speakers on SolidSteel SS6 stands. The system is connected together with Chord Company Shawline interconnects and speaker cables. His older system contains a 1978 ‘red button’ Linn Sondek LP12, which Charlie refurbished and fitted a Rega/Acos R200 arm and Nagaoka MP110 cartridge to.
This is connected to a Naim NAC42 & NAP140 pre/power amplifier from a similar year, powering Wharfedale’s new, 85th anniversary Linton speakers.
