Satellite Speakers

Satellite speakers are most often used to form a home cinema surround sound system or 5.1 system - 5 satellites coupled with a subwoofer to handle bass frequencies.

As satellite speakers can only usually reproduce bass frequencies down to about 120Hz, the subwoofer takes over from 120Hz all the way down to 20Hz. Additional satellite speakers can be added to create 7.1 or even 9.1 home cinema sound systems, for a more immersive surround experience. Dedicated floor speaker stands are often available for satellite speakers, whilst they can also be wall mounted with a suitable bracket.

Satellite speakers are the ideal speakers for television and movie sound, as they blend easily into your living room and can be almost hidden. Ensure you include some budget for speaker cables and banana plugs, to connect your speakers to your AV receiver.
