Project Xtension 9 Super Pack

Project's Xtension 9 offers a similar performance to its big brother, the Xtension 10; only in a more compact size and at a more accessible price point, making it easier to fit in a rack and easier on the wallet. Every three elements of the Xtension 9 utilises two decades' worth of exemplary experience in turntable design.

The chassis of the Xtension 9 is constructed from MDF, allowing the unit a weighty and dense mass while also offering additional anti-resonant capabilities for a stronger sound response. In addition to this, the chassis construction also utilises specialised magnetic feet, that decouple the main plinth from the base of the turntable. This combination results in a merged design of the influential 'mass loaded' and 'floating turntable' design principles.

Many turntables use an old standard adoption of pure metal for the main turntable platter, but Project has researched and engineered an ideal alloy material for the Xtension 9. This material is then dampened on the inner side with a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE). Interestingly, the top of the platter features a layer of glued recycled vinyl records, baked and 'precision-balanced' to act as the perfect mat. This innovative chassis/platter combination allows the Xtension 9 to benefit from a resonant-free, heavy platter that runs ultra-silently on an inverted ceramic ball-bearing, with magnetic suspension.

The tonearm included with Xtension 9 is the 9cc Evolution, this comes pre-fitted to the turntable and is constructed from carbon fibre. The arm tube has been designed to direct unwanted vibrations and resonance away from the turntable's cartridge into the mounting board. This allows for precise tracking of the record- grooves by the stylus, and also allows for fine adjustments of vertical and horizontal tracking.

As a final touch, an aesthetically pleasing dustcover is included with the Xtention 9, complete with adjustable hinges. The Xtension 9 is available in three high-gloss lacquer finishes.

Who is Project?

Project started in the hifi business designing and manufacturing affordable stereo turntables in the early 1990s, beginning with the entry-level Debut model. It was a great success, like all other turntables on the market at that time were at least  £100 more expensive, without offering a performance benefit. Project has extended the range of turntables they offer at all popular price points and performance levels, through midrange to high-end models.
