"The PU7 is a very grown-up arm, it brings confidence, gravitas, and insight, yet isn’t afraid to get down and boogie with the best of them" "There are few, very few (tonearms), that make listening to LPs quite as much sheer downright fun as Audio Origami’s PU7"

Audio Origami PU7 Tonearm

The PU7 from Audio Origami is a tonearm built by hand with real passion and attention to detail by designer John Nilsen. The PU7 is an evolution of the infamous and excellent Syrinx PU3, of which John was part of the design team - some 30+ years later and the original design has been improved, iterated and tweaked beyond recognition to create a truly unique and seriously high-performance tonearm.

Each tonearm is custom ordered and built by hand in Glasgow by Audio Origami to your exact specifications of length, wiring, geometry, material, and finish. If you require a specific length of tonearm or have preferred internal wiring, this can easily be catered for.

- Foam Damped Alloy or Titanium Arm Tube -
- Fully adjustable height & azimuth -
- Handmade in Scotland -
- Lifetime Warranty -

The large-diameter bearings used in the PU7 are hand-built, dry-running stainless-steel units sourced from Japan, in place of the chromed versions used by the original Syrinx from which it takes it's design cues. Their even expansion and resistance to corrosion play a huge part in the 'arm’s consistency and resistance to environmental factors such as temperature and humidity. The armtube is not the simple pipe it appears to be but instead retains a cigar profile, inverted so that the tapers are on the inside. By varying the wall thickness and internal foam damping, Audio Origami can tune the effective mass and mechanical characteristics of the tonearm to achieve perfection.

A perfect gimbal bearing is incredibly difficult to master - giving rock solid stability and effortlessly smooth movement at the same time takes serious engineering but the result is perfect tracking, every time.

"The PU7 doesn’t just look like an updated PU3, it sounds like one too -- and that’s a very, very good thing.
Back in the day, the Syrinx 'arms were notable for their seamless top-to-bottom integration and their quicksilver, articulate rhythmic and dynamic agility. There was nothing peaky, soft, smudged or forced about their musical performance, which left the likes of the Ittok sounding splashy and disjointed, the Zeta dark and heavy, and the Alphason overly smooth and dynamically constipated.

The Audio Origami is very much its own 'arm, not just some homage to past glories, but that doesn’t mean it ignores the lessons of history. The quick, open and coherent sound that characterizes its performance embraces everything that the PU3 did well -- but adds greater bass linearity, depth and weight to the mix, bringing added musical authority to proceedings to augment the feeling of delicacy, unfettered response and resolution." - The Audio Beat

The only real way to experience how good the PU7 really sounds is to experience it. We keep the PU7 TI (upgraded stiffer Titanium arm tube) on permanent demonstration here at HiFi Gear - configured with Linn geometry & 9" length for use on our demo Majik & Selekt Linn LP12's with your choice of cartridge. Call today to book a demo & experience the difference!
