When you buy a new component for either your Hi-Fi or Home Cinema system the manufacturer tends to provide phono interconnects which are cheaply made, and often diminish the sound performance that the component is really capable of delivering. It is a wise investment to upgrade your interconnects for s much better sound performance overall. This is where the Audioquest’s value for money Copperhead Stereo Interconnect comes into the equation.

Looking basic in appearance, the Copperhead makes the old saying ‘never judge a book by its cover’ become very true. With PSC (Perfect-Surface Copper) technology, this cable is advanced and ready for matching with components of new and old, providing endless performance over and over again. Underneath the 100% coverage foil shield is a bare conductor, exactly the same as the insulated centre conductor. The conductor under the shield does double duty as a low distortion audio connection, and as the drain wire connecting the shield to ground. Solid connectors provide a great improvement over other competitor interconnects by providing a matchless join between cable strands and plug. This helps to limit distortion.

It uses air filled FPE (Foamed Polyethylene) insulation on both conductors because air absorbs next to no energy and Polyethylene is low-loss and has a benign distortion profile. Thanks to all the air in FPE, it causes much less of the out-of-focus effect common to other materials. On top of this, gold plated RCA plugs also guarantee transportation of audio signals between components with smooth and unmolested sound effects.

Overall, the sound of this cable is smooth and very refined for an interconnect of this price range.
