Bowers and Wilkins AM-1 Outdoor Speakers
The new B&W AM1 Architectural Monitor offers a unique combination of high-quality sound and supreme flexibility. Suitable for installation in a wide range of outdoor and indoor applications, it’s the most durable loudspeaker Bowers & Wilkins has ever made, capable of withstanding all weather types, as well as steam.
The sound quality that the AM-1 is capable of greatly reflects the sophistication and quality of its design. The midrange/bass driver is 5 inches in size and is constructed from a glass-fibre. This driver is supported by an innovative bass enhancing technology called ABR, which stands for Auxiliary Bass Radiator. The ABR is used in place of a bass reflect port, allowing the AM-1 to deliver great depths of bass sound while retaining a level of control not normally found with a speaker of its stature. Unlike a bass port, the ABR also provides a weatherproof seal for the AM-1's cabinet.
The 25mm aluminium dome tweeter is mounted beneath the mid/bass driver, ensuring the best possible sound dispersion and in turn, resulting in a superior stereo-field when mounted high up on a wall. These drivers sit beneath a rust-proof aluminium grille, attached to a rigid cabinet composed of glass-filled plastics. This ensures an unrivalled resistance to the elements, whether they be extreme amounts of dust, moisture or UV.
Rigorous and unrelenting tests and assessments in an accelerated salt-spray chamber and outdoor UV exposure proves that the AM-1's parts and pieces don't fade or discolour.
The AM-1 can be positioned in either a landscape or portrait mode and includes a cast aluminium wall bracket with a one-plug mounting system. Speaker cables don't link directly to the AM-1, but rather to this bracket instead for a stronger and safe signal connection and an easier installation process.
Sonos Amp is the newest addition to the Sonos family. A number of comparisons might be made to the previous Sonos Connect Amp, however, Amp is a whole new product in its own right. Designed to power whatever speakers you should choose to pair with it, from a discrete in-ceiling speaker, a traditional stand mount/bookshelf speaker, a floor standing speaker or even an all-weather outdoor speaker for the garden, Amp can run them all.
Featuring Class D amplification outputting 125W per channel compared to the previous Connect Amps 55W per channel Amp is sure to have enough drive whatever your system while offering the clarity and detail you desire.
AirPlay 2 is also a key feature upgrade for Amp allowing you to enjoy audio from any of your apps on an Apple device along with the whole host of streaming services which are already directly supported by the Sonos App (over 100 services currently supported) including Spotify, Tidal, Deezer to name a few. You also have access to thousands of Internet Radio stations from across the globe, as you do with the rest of the Sonos family.
Amp features HDMI with ARC compatibility allowing simple, easy connectivity to your TV to allow for a simple, smart home cinema experience. Connectivity options allow for use of a Single Amp offering 2.0, or two Amp to allow wireless Rears in a 4.0 setup or even wireless rears with a Sonos Beam.
Sonos is notorious for the updates they bring to their system over time, so you can be sure of future updates to keep Amp at its prime.
Amp also offers connectivity for additional devices in your home entertainment, whatever your choice source may be, from turntables to CD players.
The speaker connections on the rear of Sonos Amp are threaded to allow you to insert the speaker cable directly and tighten to clamp in, alternatively, these can be removed revealing a standard diameter fitting for your own banana plug where required.
