Creek Evolution 100A Integrated Amplifier
The Evolution 100A features a similar housing aesthetic to its little brother, the Evolution 50A - a slim case with an engraved front panel and solid, robust, metal knobs. The 100A is available in either a black or a silver brushed aluminium finish, and features the same innovative soft-push button design found on all models within the Evolution 50 series. This allows for an ergonomically simple operation.
The front panel features a large OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) display, exactly matching the EVOLUTION 50 series. The white on black display provides higher clarity and resolution than a normal display and has a wide range of customised graphic symbols. Display brightness levels can be changed or turned-off, if not required, via the menu system.
The Evolution 100A sees an increased level of performance and enhanced audio playback capability thanks to it's outstanding newly developed circuitry design. The unit is now equipped with two pairs of excellent loudspeaker binding posts, with local and remote-operated speaker A/B switching implemented. There are also a number of optional upgrade-modules available for the Evolution 100A. These include the Sequel Mk 2 phono pre-amp, the Ambit FM/AM radio tuner or a Ruby DAC/Bluetooth/FM radio module attached via an expansion slot found on the rear panel of the Evolution 100A.
The Evolution 100A uses a huge 300 watt, low profile, toroidal mains transformer, with multiple winding for high and low voltages and current. This means that the power amp, pre-amp and digital circuitry is separated, eliminating unwanted resonance and distortion. Creek has stayed true to their design policy; paralleling several smaller capacitors within the power supply to form an ultra-high spec capacitor with low inductance and phenomenally low impedance.
Creek Audio has taken the unusual step of driving the headphone output socket of their EVOLUTION amplifiers from a dedicated low impedance source. Instead of the headphone output being sourced from the power amplifier, the headphone output is derived from a dedicated amplifier, with only a few Ohms in series for protection against short circuits. This dedicated HP amp is now located on the pre-amplifier circuit board.
