DALI Katch Bluetooth Speaker
The Katch is a new and innovative portable speaker, designed and engineered by DALI to offer the discerning music listener a DALI-standard of sound when out and about. From the inside out, the Katch has been developed with sound quality in mind, starting with the 3.5inch bass/midrange woofer and 21mm light-weight neodymium dome tweeter, all the way through to the elegant yet durable rounded housing.
Connectivity-wise, the Katch uses the lossless CD quality apX Bluetooth codec for the optimal wireless signal transfer, while an integrated 3.5mm jack connection supports older/non-Bluetooth devices. DALI has also integrated a USB connection that will charge your smartphone as it plays. this USB connection would also charge external boxes like a Chromecast, opening the connectivity options of the Katch tenfold with the Chromecast's wifi capabilities.
As the Katch is a portable speaker, DALI has recognised that the type of sound it provides may sound different depending on the environment - when used outside in a field, or a beach, or garden, the Katch is going to sound very different than when used inside with surrounding walls, floors and ceilings. To combat this, the Katch offers two audio profiles; 'warm' and 'clear'. Clear will optimise the speaker for a linear and more neutral frequency response, ideal for most listening applications while 'Warm' adds a layer of depth across the bass frequencies of the speaker, compensating for when the speaker isn't able to use walls and surfaces around it to make this bass more obvious.
When looking for more enhanced listening experience, the Katch can also be combined with another Katch to form a stereo pair wirelessly. A single Katch speaker offers up to 24-hours of continuous listening through its powerful 2600 mAh internal battery, while it'll charge completely in less than two hours.
Who is DALI?
DALI is an acronym of 'Danish Audiophile Loudspeaker Industries'. As the name suggests, DALI is a Danish company that specialises in designing, engineering and manufacturing high-end and intermediate level audiophile speaker units. The company was founded in 1983 by a man named Peter Lyngdorf and has since expanded from the confines of Denmark, and can now be found sold all over the world as a well sought after brand of speakers.
