One of the 1st things you will notice about the Linn Kandid cartridge is the fact it has no housing, leaving the generator nude. The exposed design is to help remove any resonance that can affect the sound performance.

Linn also uses a plastic front screw which helps to eliminate magnetic interference often caused by a metal front screw. Keeping the weight down also allows the counterweight to be moved closer to the bearing point which allows the cartridge and arm to react quickly to changes in the vinyl.

Another notable innovation in Kandid is the angle of the mechanical body and the tracking angle of the cantilever which have also been moved from 23° to 20°. This means that when it’s placed under tracking force on the LP surface, the flux lines remain symmetrical, ensuring that mechanical forces on the coils and iron core remain equal in all directions, avoiding any deformation.

Kandid uses the finest nude diamond Line Contact stylus and benefits from a ceramic boron cantilever for ultra-low mass and extremely high rigidity. The suspension mechanism supports hand-wound coils secured in a high-precision rigid assembly, terminated with gold contacts on flying leads for superb signal transmission. The coils in the Kandid also feature an extra winding to increase output.

With its low mass and low resonance chassis, superb fidelity is assured from the Linn Kandid moving coil cartridge. The use of plastic a screw at the front eliminates any unwanted magnetic interaction with the delicate generator coils. A low angle of the cantilever to record the surface provides the ideal environment for the nude diamond line contact stylus and boron cantilever to do their job in extracting the maximum musical detail from the groove. Audio signals are bought out to flying wires to connect to your tonearm headshell.

Who is Linn

Linn wants to bring you closer to the music you love, to feel every note, to experience your music with clarity and power, unlike anything you’ve ever heard. Their philosophy is simple too. Linn doesn’t make anything unless it’s better than what’s available elsewhere. For Linn, “good enough” isn’t good enough.

Every single system is built by hand in their Glasgow factory and bears the name of the person who made it. It’s built with precision and pride, designed for the future and engineered to extraordinarily tight tolerances. And of course, every product is rigorously tested before it leaves the factory in order to ensure that it delivers outstanding performance today and for many, many years to come.

A Linn system isn’t just something to enjoy now. It’s an investment that will enrich your whole life.
