Voted "Best Stereo Amplifier £400-£600" - What HiFi  2020

Key Features

  • 45 Watt per channel
  • New 192 kHz/ 24 bit DAC
  • High-quality MM phono preamp
  • HDAM SA 3 circuit
  • 5 analogue inputs, 1 coaxial and 2 optical digital inputs
  • New digital filter mode for Coaxial & Optical connections

The PM6007 from Marantz builds upon their great history of high quality 2 channel amplifiers. Although aesthetically identical Marantz has managed to improve the performance beyond its predecessor - the multi-award-winning PM6006 - in a number of ways  This latest offering offers a better sound stage, tighter bass and more detailed treble.

Reference quality DAC

The 6007 has implemented a new DAC, with the AKM AK4490 replacing the Cirrus Logic CS4398 found in the 6006. It also has the addition of two digital filters, sharp roll-off and slow roll-off, that can be chosen when playing from a source connected to either of its two optical or single coaxial inputs. This Digital filter technology has come from premium range amplifiers like the SA-10 & SA-12. It is equipped with a reference class fully shielded D/A converter DAC (DAK AK 4490), which provides up to 192-kHz/24-bit resolution for optimum fidelity with your Hi-Res audio file types.

Phono stage input

The PM6007 also improves performance across its analogue inputs including the phono stage, the phono stage benefits from upgraded circuitry to achieve a better signal-to-noise ratio. Featuring a high-quality MM phono pre-amp with FET input to enjoy best signal purity and sound from your favourite vinyl – like that found in the Marantz PM7000N.

Current feedback amplifier

The Current Feedback Amplifier technology provides wide-bandwidth and high-speed sound reproduction. In combination with the high current power supply, the PM6007's amplifier holds a large energy reserve to easily drive even the most demanding speakers. An advanced thermal compensation avoids memory distortion for clean amplification under any circumstances

Bass/Treble/Balance

With a bass and treble adjustent on the front of the amplifier, you can further adjust the sound to suit your listening room and speakers. Balance adjust gives you the option to equalise your listening postion when its not possible for your seating postition to be centred.

Who is Marantz?

Marantz is one of the world's most famous hifi brands and was started in 1948 by New Yorker, Saul Marantz, an amateur musician and audio enthusiast who was dissatisfied with the amplifier products available at that time. He decided to build phono pre-amps which could handle all manner of recording equalisations popular in the day, and his friends persuaded him to build them one too. This quickly took all of Saul's time, as he was overwhelmed with orders - the Marantz company we know today was born.
