The Marantz SR6008 is housed in a full sized chassis, which gives significantly more internal room for all critical electronic circuitry. Amplifier power is significantly increased to 185W per channel over the slimline AV receivers in the range, and we also see a large uplift in sound quality, due to the famous Marantz HDAM module employed in the pre-amplifier section, and current feedback used in the power amplifier section. Third and finally, the Marantz SR6008 also appeals to style concious audiophiles thanks to the Marantz classic design styling, including the porthole display which informs of input selection and volume level, and a high quality aluminium front panel.

 Also thanks to the larger chassis, the loudspeaker output terminals are laid out in a horizontal line, allowing cable entry from above, making loudspeaker hook up much simpler than before. Advanced loudspeaker room tuning is possible with the Audyessy Multi EQ XT and supplied microphone - this can overcome room resonances and non-ideal speaker positioning to deliver an outstanding surround and stereo performance for the listener. 

Multi-zone HDMI built in gives the ability to connect two TV;s in different rooms, and view different video sources simultaneously. A new DTS technology is incorporated, DTS Neo-X, a new processing designed to detect more audio channels available than in the original source material. For the first time Instaprevue is available in this price class - when you press the Instaprevue button on the remote, all HDMI sources are shown on the TV screen as thumbnails, to allow you to view what material is available on all connected video sources - this will easily help you to select which source you wish to view.

As can be expected from any Marantz AV receiver, the Marantz SR6008 concentrates especially on superb sound quality and forms an extensively mesmeric experience, complete with attentive and richly detailed surround sound. The SR6008 has the same DLNA networking set-up for high-definition gapless audio streaming as the SR7008 does, and also has the same Android integration, Spotify Service, Internet radio, and Airplay features. The SR6008 possesses an extremely convenient HDMI input on the front of the unit, and two HDMI outputs on the rear of the unit for simultaneous outputs. And another, new HDMI output for use with multiroom situations. 

Also like the SR7008, the SR6008 has Audyssey DSX and DTS Neo:X 7.1 processing, an iPod-digital-compatible USB input and a phono MM input for use with turntables for the vinyl listener. The SR6008 is highly versatile, but is also very powerful. Each of its seven channels make use of 185 watts of power, and because the digital audio signal (up to Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD) is transferred through one of the six 3D 4K video supporting HDMI inputs, the resulting audio quality is phenomenal. In addition, the calibration and optimisation process is also quick and simple with the Audyssey MultEQ XT Pro, Set-up assistant and graphic user interface being overlaid on the picture. Two optical and two coaxial digital inputs offer even greater flexibility when connecting streaming devices, set top boxes and TV's. DSD audio processing is also included, which is the format applied to Super Audio CD's. Although there are seven amplifier channels, there are connections for nine loudspeakers, so that whilst listening you can select which of the seven loudspeakers you prefer to listen to the content on.

The SR6008 has the option to create a second audio zone, for example the kitchen or the bedroom, in addition to the main cinema zone. It is possible to send audio from all inputs to both zone 1 and zone 2, including the digital optical or coaxial inputs, and the HDMI inputs.
