Project Debut Carbon Turntable
With the recent renewed interest in vinyl records, Project engineers have taken a hard look at their renowned Debut range of turntables, trying to re-design it to extract even more information from the groove without significantly affecting the cost of the turntable. The result is the 5 star reviewed Project Debut Carbon, which comes with a clear acrylic dust cover for effective dust protection.
For those of you that know the Debut turntable range, many features have been retained for the Carbon edition - carryover features include the polycarbonate sub-platter with stainless steel bearing, plinth mounted and Sorbothane grommet decoupled motor with rubber belt drive, solid plinth and full-sized heavy steel platter with extra weight around its circumference (for better speed stability). New features are the 8.6" long carbon fibre tonearm with integral headshell which is fitted with a high performance moving magnet cartridge from Ortofon, the 2M red, which has exceptional tracking ability so that you hear every nuance from the recording. The increased rigidity of the carbon fibre tonearm reduces unwanted resonances when compared to the aluminium tubed arm, which reduces colouration and increases detail retrieval from the groove. Bias correction is achieved via a small weight and thread mechanism.
Stereo audio output is taken from the rear panel of the turntable via gold plated RCA phono sockets with earth terminal also provided should hum be an issue. This allows you to upgrade your interconnect cables to any desired quality level, with benefits to overall sound quality.
Four vibration-absorbing feet isolate the Debut Carbon from acoustic feedback, giving the deck a very punchy bass with great clarity.
Due to the Debut Carbon being available in so different finishes, it makes it one of the most versatile turntables to have in your household, it can fit in with any sort of colour room, from the living room to even your hallway if wanted. Not only does it look good, but it also sounds incredible.
Who is Project?
Project started in the hifi business designing and manufacturing affordable stereo turntables in the early 1990s, beginning with the entry-level Debut model. It was a great success, like all other turntables on the market at that time were at least £100 more expensive, without offering a performance benefit. Project has gone on to extend the range of turntables they offer at all popular price points and performance levels, through midrange to high-end models.
