The Quad Electrostatic Loudspeaker incorporates the Quad now-classic push-pull mylar diaphragm technology which has led the design in electrostatic speaker design since 1957. Quad has continued to further improve the ESL system and today Quad have two current models the ESL-2912 and the ESL-2812.
Quad's latest reference Electrostatic Loudspeaker the ESL-2812 is regarded as one of the finest Loudspeakers in the world. The ESL is a dipole, radiating sound to the front and rear. As no cabinet is required the ESL can reproduce colouration-free sound reproduction, using a large panel area ensures accurate bass below 40Hz. The result is a speaker with amazing accuracy, soundstage and coherence which make the Quad ESL one of the finest electrostatic speakers ever made.
Improvements over the outgoing model include an upgraded power supply along with a new acoustically transparent grille. We're pleased to say the ESL-2812 improve on the outgoing model where it really matters though, sounding even better and creating their trademark holographic soundstage beautifully. In addition, they also stand slightly taller, narrower and less deep, making them easier to accommodate, and feature additional wood finishing on the top and sides of the bases.
Quad's patented panel technology results in a combination of the speed and accuracy only possible from an electrostatic loudspeaker; together with the imaging and sound-staging only possible from a theoretically ideal point source; and the coherence and continuity of a single drive unit. With possibly the lowest distortion of any loudspeaker, the ESL can be enjoyed for hours on end without fatigue; never adding or subtracting from the original recording. Even at low volume levels, they retain the full detail and drama of the music.
