Rega Fono MM Mk5 Phono Stage

The Rega Fono MM Mk5 is the latest version of Rega's moving magnet phono preamplifier, designed and engineered to maximise the sound quality possible from your Moving Magnet cartridge, without breaking the bank. The surface mount board layout features a new electronic design, designed to give the high gain required to elevate the cartridge output voltage (47mV) to 'line level'( 1000mV ). The Fono MM mk5 has received an updated front chassis design to match the aesthetic of the Rega IO integrated amplifier and the most recent series of Rega audio products.

Internally the circuitry is powered by a regulated voltage dc power supply to feed the various stages of the Fono mm cascaded circuitry, which features both PNP and NPN transistors, to allow direct coupling between amplifier stages. This improves the bass response of the Fono MM. High-quality discrete components are in evidence, including metal film resistors, polypropylene capacitors in the RIAA equalisation circuit, and a neat double-sided printed circuit board to connect the components together with the minimum of induced hum.

The Fono MM pairs very well with the Rega Planar 1, Planar 2, and Planar 3 turntables. The new anti-vibration aluminium casework is non-magnetic and rejects radio frequency interference from external devices, which has great benefits for sound quality.
