The job of any range-topper for REL is to deliver more of everything, particularly output and dynamics. The 9x is no different in this regard, as it delivers the goods in both music and theatre applications. 9x, however, delivers a level of intimacy, clarity and speed that means there are no longer trade-offs between the sonic balance of smaller models weighed against the power and scale of a model 9.

The all-new 9x has an even greater output than before, but the headline news is the way it sacrifices nothing in clarity and transparency to achieve this. At this price, it opens the pathway for owners of high-performance European floor and stand-mounted monitors and smaller panel speakers to enjoy the truly full-range sound.

Achieving higher output with better control requires a complete overhaul of the suspension components. Much like the suspension on a sports car, these items are responsible for the tuning and feel of our designs. By increasing the cabinet volume, efficiency is improved yielding higher output for no more amplifier power. Less backpressure inside the cabinet means we can tune for a stiffer, better-controlled driver suspension. We retained the best aspects of our previous design, such as the aluminium centre cap responsible for stiffening the lightweight 10” (250mm) cone while adding almost no mass. The updated combination produces considerably better attack and dynamics with greater transparency.

What is the T/x Series?

Serie T/x is an upgrade over REL’s T/i series, with an upgrade to speed, power, and transparency, resulting in higher performance and greater impact from similarly sized subwoofers.

Their new series has had a visual overhaul, with smooth, sweeping edges on both the high gloss lacquered cabinet and the aluminium feet, giving the T/x subwoofers a smaller look, despite their large cabinet volume and high-performance capability.

The amplifiers have been tuned and upgraded to be both more efficient and powerful, while REL’s hand-made drivers have been stiffened and lightened, producing a faster-sounding subwoofer with more impact while retaining REL’s infamous musicality and smoothness.

REL’s T/x series is made up of three subwoofers to suit all room sizes and requirements, from the T/5x for modest rooms to the T/9x to deliver thundering bass even in the most demanding of situations.

REL achieves its musicality and speed due to a revolutionary method of connecting to your amplifier. Rather than the traditional low-level pre-out or sub-out RCA connection, which relies on the processing of your amplifier which is often slow. For music applications, REL offers a high-level connection. This connects directly from the powered speaker outputs of your amplifier, allowing the subwoofer to blend seamlessly with your main speakers. When the main speaker moves, the subwoofer moves in tandem, producing an effortless sound that disappears in your room, simply making your speakers sound bigger and better than ever before.

Who is REL Acoustics?

REL subwoofers are engineered to deliver deep, powerful bass in both stereo and multi-channel systems. Even full-range loudspeakers can often not extend to the lowest bass frequencies, which reduces the impact and involvement for the listener in both music and movie playback.

All of the REL designs have onboard power amplifiers so that a low-level signal can be fed to the sub, and all crossover frequency controls, phase adjustment and volume level can be set to suit your room and other system components perfectly.
